What makes us different

Regular styles of Chiropractic (that most people are familiar with) focus on pain relief through spinal manipulation or various kinds of therapies. We believe most of these doctors are good at what they do! While therapeutic approaches can be beneficial for relief in the short term — twisting, popping, or cracking the spine does not necessarily mean the alignment has been restored.

Our approach focuses on Atlas Correction.

The Atlas is the top most bone in the spine, which sits directly underneath the skull. The human neck allows for a large range of motion, which unfortunately also makes the area more susceptible to injury compared to other parts of the body.

No different than a sprained ankle, the bones can slightly displace out of their normal alignment if you injure your head or neck severely enough to damage the stabilizing ligaments. This causes the surrounding muscles to spasm, which guards the damaged area to prevent further injury.

Common causes include car accidents, whiplash, slipping and falling, sports injuries, childhood injuries, etc.

When the Atlas shifts out of alignment, it will cause the head to tilt very slightly. This will affect the eyes and Vestibular System (which are no longer parallel with the horizon), and the body will compensate so you don’t feel like you’re constantly leaning to one side or risking falling over.

This asymmetrical tension of the Paraspinal muscles (the muscles that help you stand up straight) causes the hips to tilt, and the body to shift and twist. The resulting appearance of poor posture has nothing to do with age or genetics, as it is secondary to the Atlas being out of its normal alignment.

Due to the subtle nature of an Atlas misalignment, it can remain undiagnosed for years before symptoms fully develop. If the problem remains untreated, it can result in a variety of issues that could be very painful or problematic later in life.

Conditions we’ve helped

Every person is different, but an abnormal shift in the spine can be a significant contributing factor in a variety of secondary conditions (symptoms) such as:

  • Asymmetry (Ex: Low Shoulder, Tilted Hips, Leg Length Inequality)

  • Decreased Range of Motion

  • Dizziness

  • Dowager’s Hump

  • Fatigue

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Headaches (Migraine, Tension, etc)

  • Herniated Discs

  • Hip Pain

  • Low Back Pain

  • Mid Back Pain

  • Neck Pain

  • Muscular Spasm and Imbalance

  • Neuralgia

  • Neuritis

  • Numbness and Tingling Sensations

  • Knee Pain (due to titled hips and uneven leg length)

  • Pinched Nerves (Impingement Syndrome)

  • Posture-Related Issues

  • Restlessness

  • Sciatica Pain

  • Shoulder Pain

  • Sinus Problems

  • Stiffness

  • Strength-Related Issues (Decreased Grip Strength)

  • Tendonitis

  • Tight Muscles

  • TMJ Disorder

  • Vertigo

  • Whiplash Syndrome
